Impressionism
Impressionism equals Claude Monet - there is no other simpler way to say it.  After years of being rejected by the stogy Paris salons, the impressionists' art,  including that of Monet, Renoir, Pissarro and Sisley, finally won recognition near the end of the 19th century.  Other artists associated with impressionism include Cezanne, Morisot and Renoir.  Although the public frequently thinks of Van Gogh an an impressionist, he actually falls into the post-impressionist period.
