ART ON BOARD

Prints and posters can be mounted to hardboard surface to produce unique, contemporary products for display without the need for expensive framing.  We call these products ArtPlaks.  Basically the surface of the paper print is first protected with a non-reflective laminate that is only 4/1000 of an inch thick.  The laminated print is then permanently attached to a hardboard surface and the edges are finished with a black bevel.  At this stage the ArtPlak can be completed in one of three ways:

The Classical ArtPlak
The board mounted artwork receives a slot on the back for easy flush mounting onto any wall.  This particular style is 3/8 inch thick and is ideal for smaller pieces of artwork (less than 24 x 36 in.).

The Museum ArtPlak

A 3/4 in. thick frame is permanently attached to the back of the board mounted artwork.  The actual frame is hidden from view because it is smaller that the artwork itself.  This has the effect of floating the artwork off the wall and as such is often referred to as a "float mount".

The Decorative ArtPlak

The decorative ArtPlak is similar to the museum ArtPlak except that the support frame is the same size as the artwork itself.  This gives the artwork an elegant one inch thick edge and is sometimes referred to as a "box mount".
